“No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate.”
For some reason I think this is beautiful. It’s a building from the city of Chernobyl, Ukraine that was wiped out by radiation from a nuclear disaster. I don’t know why, but I just think this photograph is beautiful. It’s so desolate, but I just see beauty in it.
It’s like the ashes before God turns us to beauty
1 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet,
till her vindication shines out like the dawn,
her salvation like a blazing torch.
2 The nations will see your vindication,
and all kings your glory;
you will be called by a new name
that the mouth of the LORD will bestow.
3 You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
4 No longer will they call you Deserted,
or name your land Desolate.
But you will be called Hephzibah,[a]
and your land Beulah[b];
for the LORD will take delight in you,
and your land will be married.
5 As a young man marries a young woman,
so will your Builder marry you;
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride,
so will your God rejoice over you.
Isaiah 62:1-5
There’s nothing left. But it just makes me see us when we are broken and have lost everything but God still remains. Him and his love. This picture is like when we have abandoned and left everything and have gone through the hardships and the fire and have come out completely devoid of everything except for God. I want to be like this building. I really do. And I’m really scared to but I want to. God, I want to be like this building.
